APRIL 2024 JOURNALING PROMPTS - Claire From Online
Hi! Welcome back to Claire From Online by me, Claire, from online. And welcome to your April Journaling Prompts!
Claire’s note: There is a paywall on here, which is why you may see ‘free preview’, depending on how you’re accessing this post. Prompts are free below, additional content for paying subscribers is behind the paywall.
So, quick background if you’re new:
In December 2023 I thought up the idea for Not Afraid of Paper in a bubble bath. I wanted to host a dedicated space online to tackle the blank page with others, and to get down to the nitty gritty to answer a frequently-asked question, “what if I’m afraid to start journaling?”
From January 1st through February 29th, I released prompts daily at 5:55am to encourage new journal enthusiasts on their quest to incorporate the practice into their lives (and even face some fears). I am now releasing prompts monthly through my newsletter, all at once, on a dedicated NAoP post (hi, you’re in the right place). This is more sustainable for me and, hopefully, nice for you to have them all at once!

Journaling is…
April prompts will be broken up into five categories: reflect, vibe check, create, touch grass, and personal history.
Reflect — March Reflection (obviously)! Highlights, hard parts, memories, what you spent, how you felt, what you’re hoping to take into April with you, etc.
Vibe Check — What kind of vibes are you hoping to bring into April?
Create — FLORALS!!!! (For Spring? Groundbreaking). Press a flower, doodle a tulip, find a picture of flowers online and print it out. Anything goes!
Touch Grass — Make a tracker/list for the activities you hope to do outside this spring!
Personal History — What were some of your favorite spring memories growing up?
Reflect — When do you feel fully yourself lately? How does your most authentic self travel through the world?
Vibe Check — What vibes do you bring to the function?
Create — Doodle your day. **For a decent chunk of us, it’s also ECLIPSE DAY!! I personally will be at 97% totality. I’m needing sun and moon doodles, on the double!!
Touch Grass — Journal outside today, if weather allows.
Personal History — Call/text someone older than you in your family and have them tell you a funny story from before you were around.
Reflect — How’s your journaling practice been overall lately? Write about it.
Vibe Check — Find a meme or online ~Thing~ that currently matches your energy.
Create — Sooooo, you’re not afraid of paper. Prove it ;) (do whatever you want today, lol, I’m starting to lose steam! jk… ish)
Touch Grass — Take time to write about a local plant or animal that you’ve seen on walks, in the park, etc.
Personal History — Write about a memory from this time fifteen years ago (that’s April 2009 - small screech)
Reflect — What have you been needing help with lately? Have you been asking for that help?
Vibe Check — This is simply a vibe checkpoint. Write about your mood today!
Create — Spend some time working on a different handwriting style or block/bubble lettering. You can do it. I believe in you.
Touch Grass — Where/how are you volunteering your time lately? Any organizations or causes you’d hope to volunteer with in coming months/years?
Personal History — What’s a fixation or special interest you’ve had that has impacted your life in a positive way (where you either learned something, found community, or managed to make it a part of your livelihood)?
Reflect — How can you be kinder to yourself and to others this week?
Vibe Check — Find something funny on Reels/Threads/TikTok that really resonates with you and share why. BONUS: IT’S EARTH DAY. TOUCH GRASS DAY IS IN TWO DAYS BUT YOU CAN MENTION EARTH DAY BECAUSE EARTH DAY IS THE BEST.
Create — Incorporate some collage elements into your journaling page today!
Touch Grass — Clear out your mind. Write about whatever. Just write.
Personal History — Write about the first food you remember loving & being your favorite.
Reflect — What have you been spending your time and money on this month?
Vibe Check — Pick 5-7 current trends and figure out how you feel about them.
Create — Incorporate lyrics or music into your journaling experience. If you can’t think of lyrics you’d like to use, listen to a journaling playlist (I’ve linked mine), and see what inspires you!
Touch Grass — Talk about the weather: today, this month, your ideal day, how you feel about storms, how much rain you’ve been getting, literally whatever
Personal History — What’s the story behind your name?
HAVE FUN!!! You can follow the 30 prompts daily, in order… or, pick a few per week… or go *chaos mode* and print them off, cut them up into little strips, and pick them out of a jar or bowl every morning. >:) If you feel like sharing on your pages on IG, use the hashtag #NotAfraidofPaperClub for a chance to be featured (like, for real this time).
