Delauder's BBQ in Gatlinburg Garners Another Giant Honor

The crowd-sourced online review site, Yelp, recently released its top barbecue restaurants in the United States, and to no one’s surprise in Gatlinburg, Delauder’s BBQ was recognized. Barbecue isn’t just the South’s most prized cuisine, it’s also popular all over this great country, which is reflective in this list. Americans love delicious meats slow-cooked and served with a specialty sauce that differs in variations, depending on where you are.
Yelp recently ranked the top 100 barbecue spots in the United States. Their criteria was based on rankings and reviews from its own online community which numbers in the millions. Delauder’s garnered some extremely high praise from its reviewers, as they ranked them number 10 on this list. While this is amazing for the local barbecue joint, it’s not their first foray into notoriety. Last year, they were ranked as the seventh best place for brisket in America. Yes, America! Not just Tennessee.
If you’d like to know how Yelp compiled such a list, they limited it to reviews which mentioned the word “barbecue.” The eateries were then ranked in relation to the number of reviews and how highly they were rated. Also, analysts from Yelp limited the number of list entries per state to 12 for the purpose of geographic diversity; however, since Delauder’s BBQ in Gatlinburg was the only Tennessee listing, it didn’t really matter. This leaves no doubt as to how locals and tourists view this establishment, located at 1875 East Parkway.
I will admit, I haven’t yet eaten at this supremely lauded eatery in Gatlinburg. I’m not the biggest barbecue fanatic, but I have been known to enjoy a fair amount if the occasion calls for it. This restaurant has been on my must try list for years, so it won’t be long before the shutout is broken. There have been way too many enthusiastic reviews for me to ignore much longer. I can’t wait to finally try them!
