May I Say - by Isabel

I added another medal to my stack-o-medals that hangs from my mirror, my legs are killing me, yet I am brave enough to sit here and write another installment of your favorite newsletter that you did not ask for: DARE I SAY. We’re back, baby. And dare I say it has been a long month. It seems like forever ago I was writing the April newsletter, but now it is May and then summer and so much is going on. Let’s jump right in.

THINGS I LOVE:

TRAVEL SIZE

I am heading to Europe this month and with great travel comes great responsibility: buying mini-sized products. Kind of obsessed with those little guys. The aisle in Target with all of the small products gets me every time. Why not buy a small toothpaste in case? Every time I see something mini I envision a life for myself where I keep small-sized versions of products I have in my purse. Oh to be a girl who carries around a small toothbrush, the girl who has a mini mouthwash in her desk at work, or the one who has travel-sized Aquafor with her at all times (me).

THINGS THAT DON’T BRING ME JOY:

CHANGING INSTAGRAM HANDLES

Similar to an email account, Instagram handles should be permanent. This, of course, is directly referring to those who change their instagram handles to a different last name the SECOND they get married. Let’s give it a day maybe? Who is Sarah McPherson?!?? I don’t know her. And I certainly do not know a: _sarah_mcpherson444. Why give up a good thing? You’ve had the perfect instagram handle since 9th grade when you were one of the first users on it. Why give up your beautiful perfect username (@isabeldigi for example) so some schmuck with the same name can just take it up.

FORGETTING TO POST

Speaking of Instagram, sometimes months and almost a year go by and I have forgotten to post on the feed. I need to keep the fans up-to-date. Will someone take a good picture of me? Please????

PODCAST CATCH UP

There is a certain level of stress that comes over me when I spend too long listening to a new Taylor album and neglected all of my podcasts for weeks. Now I have hours on hours to listen to from multiple podcasts and it’s suddenly a game on how fast I can do it so I am caught up.

WAITING 9 WEEKS FOR A KINDLE RENTAL

As the original readers know, me inventing the Kindle is on the long list of things that I claim I discovered and influenced all of my friends to get into. It’s the best thing ever, you don’t even need me to sell you on this because realistically you have one by now. Anyway, I don’t buy books anymore unless I have to — I usually borrow them from the library. The kindle library famously will take 6-9 weeks or several months. So put the summer books on hold now and you will be reading gooood by Labor Day.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

MOVIES:

  • Challengers (Theaters)

    • LOVED. Tennis x Zendaya x hottie boys x Luca Guadagnino = PERFECT MOVIE. What a ride. I was entertained the entire time. Kicking my feet, giddy as hell watching Josh O’Connor. Smiling at the screen like :) for two hours. So fun, so good, would 1000% recommend seeing it in theaters.

TV:

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm

    • After 12 seasons, and 24 years since it aired, I have finally reached the final season of Curb. It took a lot of hard work and dedication and watching during work hours. I have always had a hard time getting through this show due to Larry’s whole personality. But once you get acclimated to him it is way easier to enjoy. I also had this issue with Seinfeld (you know… the bad-dum-dum-dum of it all). It must be a Larry David-thing but I am happy to announce I did it and am almost done.

MOVIES THAT I’LL BE SEEING THIS MONTH SO YOU SHOULD TOO:

DATING UPDATE:

*POSITIVE DATING UPDATE AHEAD*

I went on a good date! Yes, you read that right. After months (say, YEAR) of going on at least one date a month, I actually had a date where I returned home with a smile on my face (this happened once before but whateva). And this was not from the apps. No shade to those who find love on the apps mine are just broken at this time. This was with a comedian who I met at a show in April, not to be confused with the comedian who I met at a show in March. He is so cool/cute/funny/etc and there will be another date this month so stay tuned for that.

That concludes this installment of Dare I Say. Thank you as always for reading and I will talk to you next month! Love ya!!!!!

xoxo,

Isabel
